Re: Salmonomics!
There is one reason and one reason only that Idaho’s salmon runs have not been restored. That reason is MONEY. Billions of dollars have gone out to a horde of salmon-saving bureaucrats who have never had any intention whatsoever of saving the salmon. They are much more concerned about maintaining the problem and perpetuating the problem than they are with solving the problem.
Take a reality check, people. If the salmon runs were restored, there would be no more billions for bureaucrats. Of course then, there are the lobbyists. They want their coffers full. The lawyers want their case loads full. The committees have to have millions to travel and dine and argue endlessly about how to save the salmon. The tribes all get their bribes. To the tune of 900 million more in the works this year, and that’s only a drop in the bucket.
DO YOU WANT THE SALMON BACK?
If you do, like I do, then please read this entire commentary and think about the last statement made. There are two simple and basic steps to salmon recovery, and here they are:
1. You MUST get the eyed salmon out of the hatcheries and into their natural spawning beds when they are tiny animals. Otherwise, the salmon develop a domesticated phenotype and become non-adaptive. You get a much better conception rate in the hatcheries than in the wild. BUT, when they raise the smolt in a domestic environment, the fish don’t develop a wild phenotype, which makes them non-adaptive.
(a.) Phenotype = genotype, plus the effect of the environment. The bureaucracies have been doing the same old same old for decades, and what they have is a huge, government owned and operated domestic fish farm that produces millions of smolt that don’t come back, and billions in taxpayer debt.
(b.) Setting the eyed salmon free in their natural environments would prevent the bureaucrats from cutting off their dorsal fins. The bureaucrats mark the smolt by cutting off their dorsal fins. The dorsal fin is a navigational fin. Then they tell us that the dams prevent the smolt from navigating, so we’re supposed to take out the dams and lose all that hydro power and irrigation water.
(c.) I’d like to know who these people think they are trying to bullshit.
2. When the dams were put in the ladders were inadequate passages for returning salmon. The smolt take forever to get downstream, and very few come back. We MUST have viable waterways that bypass the dams.
If we do those two things, we’ll have salmon. And no more dammed government intervention, no more billions for bureaucrats!

Guess what? Anyone who tries to implement those two fundamentals is liable to be chastised, sued, maybe ever tortured and hung. For decades, thousands of people have been making a wonderful, high on the hog, hay-day by milking the salmon funding. They live in fancy houses and drive fancy cars. They have government vehicles, and government credit cards; the government flies them around on airlines and sends them to banquets and high profile meetings. If you tried to take away their salmon funds, they’d want to kill you!
These jokers would spend a hundred million dollars on studies to disprove these two fundamental principles, and the so-called ‘scientific community’ would say, “No way, Jack! Science says otherwise!”
Anytime there’s a huge welfare system for socialist wildlife biologists and a plethora of bureaucracies involved, you must realize two things.
First:
According to the ‘scientific community’, fish don’t swim in the water. Especially not salmon.
Second:
According to the ‘scientific community’, water doesn’t run downhill.
♠ The scientific community knows that the salmon swim in the beltway, and the beltway runs around Washington D.C. This has been proven beyond any shadow of any reasonable doubt!

RIGHT NOW TODAY, IT IS LITERALLY AGAINST THE LAW
TO RESTORE OUR SALMON RUNS!
They don’t want to save the salmon, they just want to steal all of our money!
